What is Driver CPC?
Here at Complete HGV, we would recommend all drivers of large vehicles over 3.5t attend CPC Courses, however, only drivers who wish to drive for a living need the Driver CPC, or to give it its technical name “The Drivers Qualification Card”
HGV drivers who passed their test before September 2009 or bus drivers who passed before September 2008 have what is called “Acquired Rights”. This is where you should have gained some experience in the transport industry. From that date you need to attend 35 hours of training over 5 years. This is known as periodic CPC and has to be repeated every 5 years.
Periodic CPC is an attendance-based course with no testing involved. Each course is usually 7 hours in duration
Periodic CPC
Complete HGV are members of the ASOT CPC consortium (ASOT | The Association of Trainers (drivercpc.org.uk)) and therefore have access to over 200 CPC modules. Our instructors are fully familiarised with the course content to ensure your CPC experience is enjoyable and meaningful, offering both classroom and in-cab training using our fully equipped training vehicles

Initial CPC
If HGV or PSV Licence is new to you, or you have never held a Driver Qualification Card/CPC before the initial CPC is for you.
This consists of two modules known as Mod 2 Case Studies and Mod 4 “Show me tell me”. These are both pass or fail tests but take a lot less time to complete than the periodic CPC,
Mod 2 CPC/case studies test is done at the same venue where your Theory test is taken. Complete HGV can set you up on our online system which is very similar to the actual test.
Once you have passed this, we can then deliver your Mod 4 training, sometimes known as show & tell, at various test centres around the country. Our experienced instructors will guide you through the process to ensure you pass. Complete HGV will also send you online videos to help with understanding what is required
